This is a herbaceous bushy herb. Has a strong scent and taste of lemon. It is used in many dishes to impart a lemon flavour and also for making a lemony herbal tea. Lemon balm has also been know to be used as a flavouring in some alcoholic drinks. This plant has a many medicinal uses. It can be used in the treatment of cold sores, fevers, colds, indigestion, nervousness, depression, sleep disorders, flatulence, increases perspiration treats menstrual problems, stomach complaints, nausea, and headaches. a poultice can be made to treat herpes, gout, sores, bites, and can be used as an insect repellent. This herb is antibacterial and anti-viral. Overall, lemon balm has a soothing and calming effect on the body. Lemon balm makes a good addition to pot-pourri.
