Mint is one of the easiest herbs and one of the most useful herbs to grow in the garden. Mint is one herb that tends to be used dishes from all parts of the world. it can be used raw or cooked as a flavouring in salads, or cooked foods. Mint has been used as a flavouring in sweets, chewing gum, ice cream and many other foods. A refreshing , tasty tea can be made from the fresh or dried leaves. Medicinally, mint has been used to treat fevers, headaches, digestion problems. The whole plant is antiseptic. Women who are pregnant should use with caution. Mint was used at one time as a repellent against mice and rats as they strongly dislike the scent of mint.

culture:
-Most mint species are invasive, so restrict their roots by planting in large containers. If they are to go into the garden, plant them into a large container and then sink into the ground.
– Mints are quite hungry plants, so feed fortnightly in spring and summer with a multi-purpose plant feed.
-Keep foliage clipped back and discourage flower and seed development.
-Mints will grow in most soils.
-a fully hardy perennial.
-Water daily for 2 weeks after planting or until plant is established.

propagation:
-mint is easy to grow from seed, but i wouldn’t recommend sowing seeds obtained from hybrids as the offspring will not resemble the parent plant and are often times inferior.
-sow seeds in a greenhouse in spring. They will germinate fairly quickly.
– divisions in spring or autumn. r
-oot cuttings in spring or autumn.
